Recorded on the nights of January 9th and 10th 1988 at the Country Club in Reseda, California, Live extreme volume gives you a pretty good idea as to what a Racer X show must have been like. Contemporary accounts suggest that Racer X were well regarded on the Los Angeles live circuit and this recording captures a mix of Racer X tunes, mixing them in with the four solo spots of Paul, Bruce, John and Scott.
At the time, Bruce Bouillet had this to say about the experience of recording live:
(it's the hardest thing I've had to do yet) "... just because of the fact that there's no turning back, there's no second chance on a live album. It's a scary thought, especially considering how difficult some of the harmony lines are. But it pumps you up and you just go for it. Naturally, there are some things on the live album that I wished I would've played better on, but there are also some cool things that happened spontaneously that I probably couldn't pull off again if I tried.."
